How to Remove the Locking Ring on Your Slip Chain Choker

Some of our slip chain chokers come with small locking rings that keeps the chain fixed and prevents it from slipping. If you’d like to convert your choker into a true slip-style, you can easily remove these rings.

Here’s how:

1. Find the small jump ring – It’s usually a tinny jump ring attached either to the chain and D-ring or, from chain to chian just by the D-ring.

   

2. Use two pairs of pliers (or just your fingers) to gently twist the ring open sideways. Don’t pull it apart front-to-back—twisting keeps the shape intact.

   

3. Slide the rings off the chain to release it.

4. That’s it! Your choker will now slip freely.

Want to reattach it later? You can reuse the same ring or replace it with a new one from any craft store.
