Definition:
 PU, short for polyurethane, is a semi-shiny (patent) to non-shiny man made material.
Stretch PU, is a thin, stretchable material, which allows it to fit to the contours of the feet or legs.
PU can be used as a vegetarian alternative to leather.
Chemistry:
 PU is any polymer consisting of a chain of organic units joined by urethane (carbonate) links. Polyurethane polymers are formed through step-growth polymerization by reacting a monomer containing at least two isocyanate functional groups with another monomer containing at least two hydroxyl (alcohol) groups in the presence of a catalyst. |
